By installing or using Padlock you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. The service
Padlock is an Android app for end-to-end encrypted messages and calls, with a file vault and a non-custodial crypto wallet (CryptoVault), provided by an independent developer based in Portugal.
2. Minimum age
You must be at least 16, or the minimum age required in your country if higher.
3. Your account and keys
Your account exists only on your phone. You alone are responsible for your passphrase, vault codes and 24-word recovery phrase. We cannot recover lost passwords, chats, files or funds. This is by design.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use Padlock for illegal activity (including fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing or sanctions evasion), to share child sexual abuse material, to harass, threaten or spam others, or to attack or overload the servers or other users. We may block an ID from the server when there are serious signs of abuse.
5. Subscriptions and payments
Padlock requires a yearly subscription: the Padlock plan (messages, calls, photos, Secure Vault Files) with 7 days free, or the Padlock + CryptoVault plan (everything plus CryptoVault) with no free trial, at the price shown on Google Play. Billing, auto-renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by Google Play under its rules. You can cancel anytime in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions); the subscription stays active until the end of the paid period and is then not renewed. There are no refunds for periods already paid, including when you cancel mid-year, except where required by the law of your country or Google Play rules. The 7-day free trial is available once per Google account: anyone who has ever had a Padlock subscription is not eligible again. Without the Padlock + CryptoVault plan, CryptoVault is locked in the app: withdraw your crypto before cancelling; funds always remain recoverable with the 24-word phrase in any compatible wallet.
6. CryptoVault
CryptoVault is non-custodial software. We are not a bank, exchange, custodian or financial adviser. Blockchain transactions are irreversible; checking the address, network and amount is your responsibility. Crypto assets are volatile. Network (gas) fees are charged by the network, not by us. You are responsible for complying with your local laws and tax obligations.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Undelivered messages are discarded from the server after 72 hours.
8. Limitation of liability
Padlock is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for loss of data or funds caused by lost passwords or recovery phrases, sends to wrong addresses, or failures of third-party networks. Nothing here limits your statutory consumer rights.
9. Intellectual property
The Padlock name, logo and app belong to their author. When the source code is published, the license stated in the repository applies.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date above shows the version in force. Portuguese law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.
